SD Clinical Hypnotherapy Presents at Boomtown!

May 23, 2013   //   by Admin   //   Blog, News, San Diego Hypnotherapy, Uncategorized  //  No Comments

San Diego Clinical Hypnotherapy presents its workshop “Hypnosis and the Power of the Subconscious Mind” at Boomtown, this Saturday at 3 pm, Memorial Day weekend. BOOMTOWN is an 1880s themed three-day family friendly campout featuring arts, music, eco-education, and vintage performers, located on a private 100-acre ranch on a mountaintop in Apple Valley.

This workshop explains the trance state of hypnosis and how it works through the subconscious mind, as hypnosis is a natural, yet altered state. Further discussion will show how the conscious, subconscious and superconscious (higher-self/soul) work together and how specifically the subconscious is the most powerful tool that we have direct access to as it controls both our mind and body. Working from that base of understanding, it becomes easier to see how hypnosis/hypnotherapy work with the subconscious to initiate fast and lasting results within oneself. This also explains a lot about why willpower is often not enough to initiate lasting change as willpower is based in the conscious mind. We will also briefly discuss the history of hypnosis, dating back to the Egyptian “Sleep or Dream” temples and even before as the second oldest profession in the world, to its modern history with the American Medical and Psychological Associations in the 50’s leading to its current validity in mainstream society and medical applications. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers and the workshop will finish with a group hypnosis session where everyone will be able to participate, if they choose, then talk about their individual hypnosis experiences.

We hope to see you there! Feel free to contact us if you have any questions and click on the links above to see the website and Facebook event listing.

New Study Shows Hypnosis Works For Hot Flashes!

Dec 11, 2012   //   by Admin   //   Blog, News  //  No Comments

According to an article in the Los Angeles Times, a study was done with post-menopausal women who suffered at least eight hot flashes a day and as many as 50 a week. Since current treatment for midlife hormonal changes has so many side effects, this study was especially pertinent as hypnosis has no known risks. This latest study, published in the online journal Menopause, showed that of the 93 women who received five 45 minute hypnosis sessions for menopause that “the frequency of hot flashes in the hypnotherapy group dropped by 48% at six weeks and 56% at 12 weeks, compared to drops of 7% and 13% at six and 12 weeks, respectively, among those in the trial’s control condition. A measure of the severity and frequency of hot flashes showed an average 71% improvement in the hypnosis group at six weeks versus 8% in the control group — and an 80% improvement at the 12-week mark among the women who got hypnosis versus 15% at 12 weeks.”

As the World Hypnotism Day website states: “Our mission is to remove the myths and misconceptions while promoting the truth and benefits of hypnotism to the people of the world.” http://www.worldhypnotismday.com/
Hypnosis is consistently being recognized as a more and more powerful tool, for the mind and body. A recent survey of psychotherapy literature showed the following recovery rates:

Psychoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions.

Behavior Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions.

Hypnotherapy: 93% recovery after 6 sessions.

San Diego Hypnotherapy – Hypnosis and the Power of the Subconscious Mind

Oct 21, 2011   //   by Admin   //   Blog, San Diego Hypnotherapy  //  No Comments

san diego hypnotherapyLet me present some preliminary questions we should all ask when considering San Diego Hypnotherapy. So, how many of us have an issue or two that we’d like to get out of the way so we can function at a higher level or just improve our quality of life? How many of us have a skill, business, music or sport, at which we would just like to perform a little better?  How many of us have medical issues that are causing serious complications with everyday life, and medicine and doctors are just not seeming to completely solve the issues?

I think it’s a pretty safe bet to say that most of us fall into one or more of those categories. I think it’s also pretty safe to say that most of us don’t want to spend months or even years hashing over those problems or issues in long counseling sessions, but would rather get on with our lives, in an improved, higher-functioning capacity. We can all do this by accessing the power of our subconscious mind.

San Diego Hypnotherapy – Understanding Your Subconscious Mind

Our subconscious mind is a very powerful tool that we don’t tap into nearly enough and that takes up the majority of our mind. While our conscious mind governs analysis and choice, reasoning, logic, willpower, and the senses, the subconscious governs everything else such as the autonomic nervous system, memory, beliefs, emotions, creative intelligence, imagination and personality traits.

Most of us create beliefs about the world in general between the ages of seven to 11 during situations involving authority figures, peer groups, high emotion, repetition, etc. and we run off of those beliefs for the rest of our lives unless we are able to alter them by accessing the subconscious. I compare this to running off of an old outdated computer system that has never been updated. However, through hypnosis, which accesses the subconscious, we can alter those old beliefs or update them to give them a healthier perspective, bypassing the need for willpower.

What is hypnosis? The term “hypnosis” is from the Greek word hypnos, meaning “sleep.” Hypnotherapists use exercises that bring about deep relaxation to achieve a natural, yet altered state, in which the critical factor is relaxed but focused thinking is maintained. A person in hypnosis is exceptionally relaxed, mentally, emotionally and physically, has a strong desire to fulfill suggested behaviors and is especially responsive to ideas, images and instruction, but this does not mean that a hypnotist can control the person’s mind or free will.

On the contrary, the senses, while in hypnosis, are most often heightened, making them more aware of things around them than usual and they are completely in control of their own self-will. A hypnotherapist CANNOT control the mind or cause someone to divulge secrets about themselves they do not wish to.

However, hypnosis can teach people how to master their own states of awareness. By doing so, they can affect their own bodily functions and psychological and emotional responses. Hypnosis is approved by the American Medical Association and the American Psychological Association. Since 1995, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has also recommended hypnotherapy as a treatment for chronic pain.

San Diego Hypnotherapy – Pinpointing and Alleviating Subconscious Issues

What kinds of issues is hypnosis valid for? Hypnosis is applicable for anything to do with the mind or body that is controlled by the subconscious. San Diego Clinical Hypnotherapy offers Clinical Hypnotherapy and NLP, Neurolinguistic Programming, to address the following issues (and others): unwanted habits such as smoking, nail biting, procrastination; medical issues (already assessed by a physician) such as medical and dental anxiety, TMJ, pain management, childbirth pain, surgery anxiety, pre-surgery preparation, post-op healing, stress, headaches, IBS, lower blood pressure, weight loss, sleeping disorders, etc.; improve sports, music and business performance (i.e. public speaking); phobias, fears and traumas (i.e. nightmares, fear of heights, flying); emotional issues such as grieving, traumatic events, depression, anger, self-esteem, self-confidence, relationships; and many more.

My clients overwhelmingly refer family and friends to experience the success that they have experienced themselves!
