San Diego Clinical Hypnotherapy Presents at the Core Fundraiser and Burner Bazaar

Apr 28, 2013   //   by Admin   //   Blog, News  //  No Comments

Come enjoy a workshop of “Hypnosis and the Power of the Subconscious Mind” on Sunday, April 28 at 4:30 pm at the Core Fundraiser and Burner Bazaar. This is sure to be a fun event with lots of workshops, interactive learning and experiencing, music and fun for the whole family! Check out the event at on the Facebook homepage for the Core Fundraiser via this link.

This workshop explains the trance state of hypnosis and how it works through the subconscious mind, as hypnosis is a natural, yet altered state. Further discussion will show how the conscious, subconscious and superconscious (higher-self/soul) work together and how specifically the subconscious is the most powerful tool that we have direct access to as it controls both our mind and body.

Working from that base of understanding, it becomes easier to see how hypnosis/hypnotherapy work with the subconscious to initiate fast and lasting results within oneself. This also explains a lot about why willpower is often not enough to initiate lasting change as willpower is based in the conscious mind.

We will also briefly discuss the history of hypnosis, dating back to the Egyptian “Sleep or Dream” temples and even before as the second oldest profession in the world, to its modern history with the American Medical and Psychological Associations in the 50’s leading to its current validity in mainstream society and medical applications.

There will be plenty of time for questions and answers and the workshop will finish with a group hypnosis session where everyone will be able to participate, if they choose, then talk about their individual hypnosis experiences.

We hope to see you there! Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

New Study Shows Hypnosis Works For Hot Flashes!

Dec 11, 2012   //   by Admin   //   Blog, News  //  No Comments

According to an article in the Los Angeles Times, a study was done with post-menopausal women who suffered at least eight hot flashes a day and as many as 50 a week. Since current treatment for midlife hormonal changes has so many side effects, this study was especially pertinent as hypnosis has no known risks. This latest study, published in the online journal Menopause, showed that of the 93 women who received five 45 minute hypnosis sessions for menopause that “the frequency of hot flashes in the hypnotherapy group dropped by 48% at six weeks and 56% at 12 weeks, compared to drops of 7% and 13% at six and 12 weeks, respectively, among those in the trial’s control condition. A measure of the severity and frequency of hot flashes showed an average 71% improvement in the hypnosis group at six weeks versus 8% in the control group — and an 80% improvement at the 12-week mark among the women who got hypnosis versus 15% at 12 weeks.”

Hypnotherapy Often Prescribed for Cancer Patients By: Bennett Mathers

Jul 12, 2011   //   by Admin   //   Blog, News  //  No Comments

Hypnotherapy for Cancer Patient Benefits By: Bennett Mathers

Not many people know that hypnotherapy is often prescribed for cancer patients. Indeed, hypnosis holds many benefits for cancer patients. This article is not about how hypnosis can or can’t cure cancer but how it can alleviate certain symptoms and negative mindsets, which in a way does affect health. In fact, the NIH found hypnotherapy useful for treating chronic pain in conjunction with other medical treatments.*

Here are some ways that hypnotherapy helps cancer patients.

It can give patients a positive outlook

Staying positive is hard for cancer patients, if not impossible. Therefore, many patients treat hypnosis as a cognitive behavioral treatment. Studies show that positivity improves immune system functions. Therefore, positivity can actually help a patient’s overall health.

It can reduce stress

Stress can cause further complications in cancer patients. Therefore, it is crucial that the patient remain stress-free. Given his or her circumstances, however, it may be hard to stay stress free. Hypnotherapy will help willing patients become stress-free through the use of suggestive phrases and deep relaxation.

Staying stress-free is important, especially if you are diagnosed with a serious cancer like mesothelioma. Mesothelioma life expectancy is only 4 to eight months. However, stress-free patients tend to increase this number, giving doctors more time to cure the cancer.

It can speed the healing process

Though the process is complex, hypnosis can help patients heal from surgeries and chemotherapy. The reason stems from the neurological aspect of hypnosis. The mind, being in a relaxed and positive state, sends special signals to the body’s immune system, allowing it to heal wounded areas of the body 25 percent faster than normal.

Of course, cancer patients can benefit from this because they undergo multiple surgeries and sessions of chemotherapy. In fact, some doctors require their patients undergo hypnotherapy after intense surgeries, radiation or chemotherapy.

It can reduce pain

Along with the healing aspect, hypnotherapy can also reduce pain. During the hypnotherapy session, the brain will send messages and signals to block the pain signals from reaching it. However, this does not mean that the pain is gone; rather, it is just being blocked. The effects can be compared to pain relieving medicines like Tylenol or Aspirin.

It can reduce anxiety

Because cancer is so serious, many people become over-anxious if they are diagnosed with it. Hypnosis can ease anxiety; thus, the patient feels more comfortable and positive. Studies show that anxiety can hinder the body from fighting cancer cells, so it is important that patients maintain their composure and stay relaxed.

So, whether hypnotherapy cures cancer or not (please see relevant studies supporting its healing attributes), it is beneficial for the cancer patient. With an improved outlook of life, patients can embrace their road to recovery.
